What causes different kinds of crack patterns on glass?

I'm doing a project for Physics, in which I explore different crack patterns in glass and determine what cause them, angle, force, thickness of glass, etc.
Can anyone link me to some helpful sights, recommend some books, or tell me about some people that have explored this so that I may look at their research?

Fracture analysis has a lot too it because glass can break in so many ways. If you look at the edge of broken glass, you will see wavy lines called Walner lines.... the shape, number and intensity of these can tell you which side and part of the glass was in tension or compression. Things such as microcracks, inclusions and defects can also affect the way a crack propagates through the glass.

For an interesting experiment, try having someone else break a couple glasses in different ways and see if you can use the techniques above to put the glass back together (with tape) and figure out how it was broken
