Can anyone tell me how to remove and preserve the seeds from figs?
Can anyone tell me how to remove the seeds so that I can save them? I want to use the seeds for a sugar scrub that I make. Some people use poppy seeds or strawberry seeds. They are great for exfoliating. Because I have this huge tree with a ton of figs I thought I could use the seeds. Also do you think I should let them dry out before I use them? I didn't know if they might start to sprout if they were to remain moist. Thank you!
I haven't removed fig seeds before but I know a technique that works on tomato seeds. Slice the fruit in half & scoop out the pulp, seeds and all. Place the pulp into a jar that has a lid. Fill the jar with water and as the product lightly ferments the seeds seperate from the pulp. With tomatoes the good seeds sink to the botom which allows the pulp to be scooped off the top. As for as planting goes they need to be dried in a cool place. I would also dry the fig seeds. I bet those would also ber good toasted & or cooked in a dessert.
