Gold plated or solid gold?
Okay my 19yh birthday is coming and there is this little gold key pendant i found on a website that i absolutely love! But after tax and shipping it comes to almost $100.00. Now the thing is i also have my eye on some perfumes, so to ask for, or suggest that i want all of that would be way to much. Like most people, this isn't a very good year money wise. So things are a little tight right now.
So on the website they also have the same key pendant in sterling silver with gold plating. And that only comes to about $30.00 with shipping and tax. So i was thinking that i would ask for that since the other is much more and they will look the same anyways.
But then i started looking up gold plated jewelry and i saw that there was a lot of things about it changing color. And about careful cleaning. So does that mean that gold plated jewelry tarnishes a lot? Would it just be better to ask for the all gold one and that's it? I need some advice, thank you.
Both plated and solid gold with dull over time (not tarnish). Solid gold can be polished and made to look new. Polishing a plated item will remove the plating and ruin the piece.
